International Students from the School of International and Public Affairs participated in the Silk Road E-commerce Capacity Building Exchange Seminar in Shanghai

On November 8, 2019, the "Silk Road E-commerce" capacity building exchange seminar, hosted by the Department of E-commerce and Information Technology of the Ministry of Commerce of China, undertaken by the China International Electronic Commerce Center, and co-organized by the Belt and Road Cooperation Platform, was held in Shanghai. The seminar is one of the sub-projects of the second China International Import Expo. It mainly focused on the two topics: Shanghai's multi-platform E-commerce construction and related cross-border exchanges and cooperation, and discussed the construction of the sustainable development Silk Road initiative platform. In the context of the "Belt and Road" marketing business service and cooperation platform, a large number of overseas Silk Road E-commerce companies have conducted discussions on how to maintain the productivity and sustainable development of China's E-commerce, focusing on the future of import models and innovative strategies.

The seminar attracted representatives from more than 20 Chinese universities, experts and scholars from more than 10 countries, as well as many international organizations, enterprises, and research institutions to participate. The seminar focused on the new role of the new retail model in the field of market strategy and the "Silk Road E-commerce" business service exchanges and cooperation in order to promoted the active cooperation and investment of many E-commerce platforms continuously in China, and find ways to solve the problem of overseas E-commerce entering the Chinese market. The purpose of conference is to provide strong intellectual support and platform interconnection for Silk Road E-commerce, to continuously promote the joint construction of the " Belt and Road" overseas E-commerce mutual trust, to deepen cross-border E-commerce, to expand legal and practical cooperation, and to jointly maintain the security and stability of world E-commerce.

Five representatives of international students from the School of International and Public Affairs of Jilin University, including Ait Laadam Jamal, Kim Yoohan, Bassem Khaled Abdelsalam Elmaghraby, Assoumi Harouna Abdoul Karim and Jamali Aisha, participated in the conference and delivered speeches at the conference, expressing their unique insights on issues such as overseas innovation and joint construction of the “Belt and Road” platform. This is the first time that representatives of international students from Jilin University have participated in the seminar on the theme of "Silk Road E-commerce" capacity building. Attending such a high-level academic conference is a test for the students. In the end, the continuous efforts of the students were highly recognized and appreciated by the seminar organizer, including the director of the E-commerce research center, Lao Guling from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and other guests, over the good academic skills and spirit of Jilin University students.

The organizers highly appreciated the results of the conference and expressed their expectations for expanding E-commerce cooperation with countries along the “Belt and Road” initiative. During the seminar, the participants adhered to the "Shanghai Belt and Road E-commerce Spirit", made outstanding contributions to deepening business cooperation, and effectively improved the research level of the "Belt and Road" initiative and the "Belt and Road" business service cooperation and development strategy.
