Special guests will discuss and debate the historical significance of the rise of China and its engagement with the world from BRI to CPTTP, from China-US competition to China’s investment in Africa. A free but themed roundtable discussion is expected.
Short bio of participants:
* Dr. Anna Kolotova, graduated from SIPA as Master in 2016, as PhD – in 2020. Current position: Post-doctoral Fellow, Global Engagement Academy, Shandong University (Weihai), China. Research interests: Russia-China relations, international and intercultural communication, information and its impact on society/group/individual levels, etc.
* Dr. Jamal Ait laadam, graduated 2020 , current position: Specialist in North African and Middle East issue, department of International Affairs, at Polytechnic University, Morocco. * Dr. Asif Amin, graduated 2019. Current position, Director of the Directorate of International Linkages and Assistant professor at the Faculty of School of Peace & Counter Terrorism, Minhaj University Lahore, Pakistan. Areas of Interest Radicalisation, Terrorism, Counterterrorism, Indian Ocean Politics.
* Dr. Bright Lumor Mensah, graduated in 2019. Current position: Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences, Ho Technical University, Ghana. Lecture areas: Africa and the diaspora, Africa in the modern world, etc.
* Mr. Yang Yizhong is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Institute of National Development & Security Studies, Jilin University in China. His research interests include public diplomacy, Sino- US relations, and national security etc. He received his master degree from Rutgers University in the United States and once worked for the United Nations Headquarters for one year.
* Mr. Liu Zhichen, postgraduate at School of International and Public Affairs, Jilin University. Research interest: public diplomacy, global governance, China-Russia relations. Currently runs the JLU Student Association for International Organizations.
* Ms. Li Chensi, third year undergraduate at School of International and Public Affairs, Jilin University. Research interest: Sino-African relations, African affairs, and NGOs. She is working for NGOs in Nigeria and Cameroon as a UN volunteer.
*Friday Event aims to explore and establish additional channel to connect SIPA faculty and students with the latest development in IR. It is open to everyone in SIPA and encourages all kinds of proposal for topic and guest speaker recommendation.
